“Mother’s Day”

The month of May is busy each year
With birthdays, holidays and the special day for mothers who are so dear.
AP exams were the week of Mothers Day,
Which meant I had no time to waste away.
I had to buy a present.
But I had to put much thought into it so that it wouldn't be unpleasant.
My sisters and I did not know what to buy.
What did my mother not have that will make her as cheerful as the blue sky?
I called my aunt and she told me how to solve my situation.
She suggested I buy my mother a package for a getaway vacation
As a family we decided to send her off to the Bahamas,
Hoping the shocking news won’t give her a trauma.
When the day came and we gave her the surprise
Inside the card was a song as brightening as the sunrise.
“What are the songs the mother sings?
Of birds and flowers and pretty things;
Baby lies in her arms and spies
All his world in the mother's eyes”.

“Senioritis at its Finest”

Senioritis is the ebbing of motivation and effort by seniors as evidenced by tardiness, absences, and lower grades.
It had not hit me until the time for AP exams arrived, which served as blockades.
And so the teachers began reviewing for the big day,
But I was lacking motivation; therefore I started to begin to steer away.
After taking a practice exam and realizing that I was not going to pass,
I began to take the practice sessions seriously by paying careful attention in class.
Scoring a “4” or “5” was the only option.
Therefore I decided to study intensely with a lot of caution.
Asking questions and studying for hours did pay off,
When on May 8th and 13th I took the exams which were not so tough.
AP Calc BC was the first exam
It was surprisingly not as hard as making a grand slam.
But AP Bio was the opposite,
And for some reason there were questions about making a deposit.
Thankfully, AP exams are all done,
And for the seniors who are doing senior service, summer has officially begun!!
